When putting together an affiliate page, what are your goals for CTR by targeted visitors, 50%, less, more?

At what point do you look at your stats and decide it's time to go in and tweak the page?

Depends on lots of variables.

You can try what makes the most sense, then tweak and measure after you have a base to work from.

Currently, the CTR on my main affiliate site is approximately 30%. The conversion rate for our main merchant is about 25% - 30%, so a lower CTR from our landing pages doesn't affect us that much. I would like to see 50% + someday , but since we are mainly going with affiliate programs, it's difficult to do any A/B split testing of landing pages.

If we were selling a product with a "thank you" page that can have solid coversion tracking from keyword to sale, then we might have some better data.

Anyone with ideas on how to do A/B testing of mostly affiliate program promotion sites?

So in general, it's safe to say that you are content with a 30% CTR on your links. I'm really curious as to what some other webmasters are achieving as well on their highly optimized pages.

My main niche site is approximately 15-18% at the moment, though I have had days of spikes up to 60%, shame I can't keep it there. :)

Wouldn't it be very much dependant on what the SEs are sending to you.

If you are getting correctly targetted traffic base on what the SEs thinks your page is about, your CTR will go up, otherwise the user may just go back and continue searching or just browse your page without the intention to buy anything.

Right, I forgot to mention, acceptable CTR for targeted SE traffic.
