great keyword but no merchants

how can i capitalize on it?

I've found a moderatly popular keyword with broad appeal but I havn't been able to find any merchants selling something that I'd want to target. There are a couple of products but I'm guessing the conversion rate would be lousy.

I'm thinking of buying the keyword for an adgroup with 2 or 3 very specific ads. Each ad would lead to a landing page which would basically just be a collection of affiliate links targetted to the ad, but not the keyword. I hope that makes sense.

I've searched the archives and it seems this kind of activity is allowed using adwords but many here see it as fruitless. Is that accurate? as long as it's allowed I wouldn't mind giving it a stab even if it is fruitless, just to see for myself.

Can't see how a bunch of aff links on a page that is unrelated to the keyword they found you on will really make any money, but they say we learn by our mistakes so maybe you should try it anyway.

"great keywords" usually have SOME obvious commercial product, value, or associated product.

and there is also always adsense! Write something about the keyword and post a few adsense ads!
