Do any Australians here know of a bank in .au that will accept USD cheques drawn on American banks without extorting a $30 or similar fee from you first?

St.George charge $10.50 to cash foreign cheques.

Commonwealth Bank only charges $10.00

fyi...

Someone recommended I checked out the building societies, and StateWest only charges $5, so those in other states might want to check out the local building societies. That said the account has very low interest (0.20%) so I'll only be using it for depositing foreign cheques and moving it to my regular account (5.40% last I remember).

Don't you get slugged with another fee for moving the money from on account to another?
