Using Data Feeds & Still Standing Out in the Crowd...

When I heard all of this talk about data feeds I thought wow, this sounds awesome! But now I ask...How does an affiliate stand out from the crowd with a data feed website and rank higher in search engines than the other affiliate websites that were created from the same merchant's data feed? Sounds neat to be able to create a 4000 page website in a few minutes with a data feed, but what is the value of that if 100 other affiliates are creating data feed websites with the same data feed content? What are some smart and slick ways to supplement a data feed website so that it gets better SE position?

Try to find niche markets that do not have a lot of competition. Find something that you can offer your visitors that adds value to their day, you know enhances their experience.

That way they will come back!

Spell check is always a good one. You would be surprised how many feeds have a decnt amount of spelling errors.

Yeah I am doing my first datafeed site right now and I was shocked by that.

---------

Some things I am doing are basic Information Architecture stuff ( I have been jazzed on IA for 2 monthes this is the first site I am doing with all my new tricks )

Synonym Loops, Easy and Useful Search, Several Different customizations for viewing the data depending on what type of person you are.

----------

For SEO I am chunking my feeds ( I have several for this site) text and only presenting snippits from each one and with others. My hope is to avoid a duplicate penalty this way. All images are served from my server, and all links are via redirects from my server. No connections to the aff sites directly.
