Having spent my entire web career in the academic, non-profit and government sector, I now work for a for site interested in generating ad revenue -- but of course I don't know a thing about making money! I've done some basic SEO and moved the site from a 0 to 3 page rank and have signed us on to adsense. We are now getting requests from other sites wishing to advertise with us (text or banner ad) and I don't know what to charge them or how to charge them (page views vs a flat monthly rate). What's the going rate for ads on a site with a page rank of 3 and should I go with text or banner ads or both, monthly rate or page views? I believe I'll be able to easily increase this ranking with a bit more SEO.
