According to an article in the Minneapolis paper today Amazon will start collecting sales taxes on sales to MN customers on October 1, 2014. They aren't saying yet why they will start collecting the tax.

A while back they terminated all MN affiliates because MN passed a so called "Amazon Tax" on online sales.

So, I wonder if they'll reinstate the affiliates they terminated?

I would guess so. The same thing happened in California- they re-instated affiliates around the time they started collecting taxes.

I don't remember if we had to do anything- I think they automatically started paying commissions again on the existing accounts. I seem to remember that Amazon sent an e-mail to CA affiliates beforehand about the reinstatement, but I don't recall how far in advance or how long after the news was reported in the media. For MN, I would guess that they would start paying commissions again for purchases made after Oct. 1.

Thanks LiA.

Would be nice if we got reinstated automatically.

They terminated all NC affiliates, I don't recall anything happening the other way.

I wish MN would start a trend.
