I'm 50/50 some I just delete without even looking at them others I'll read and follow the link's so I suppose it depends on how well the first few lines grab your attention
at work I would love to do the same but can't...on my own account I still delete most html mails unread
they are a total pain in teh proverbials...a waste of time and bandwidth and a major security hole
don't do it
So, Eric, what do you really think? (Heh, heh!)
>don't do it
I agree, but clients have a way of not wanting to believe that their plans are ill-advised.
Tigger, when I do need to communicate en masse, I put up a web page (or pages, if needed) with the content and then send a very, very short text email containing the link and what's on the other side of the clickthrough. I try to come in very lean on the email text, mostly because it's my style but also out of respect for the recipient's time. There are the added benefits of being more likely to avoid filters and while being readable on any email client from Pine to Outlook.
I have one such 'newsletter' out there right now, it's on a moderately complex subject that took a half-dozen secondary pages to round out the details. There is NO way I'd ever get this effectively delivered in html email.
BTW, I never get a complaint and response is usually excellent.
