I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, so apologies in advance if it isn't!

I have a website that is now almost ready to be advertised in a larger capacity. I am competing in a very competitive market and already have a Google Adwords campaign running. I'm looking into affiliate programs as well and think I have the understanding of them pretty much covered.

What I need advice with is banner advertising. I am looking into the possibility of using Fastclick to advertise my site for me. Can anyone else recommend some other advertising agencies that may be beneficial and also warn me of any that are definitely a no go area? There are loads of websites that "claim" they can send you traffic or advertise your site for very low costs but I am extremely sceptical of such things, especially as I don't want to pay big money for traffic that isn't interested in the content of my site.

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Welcome to Webmaster World, Dat_Guy!

Fastclick and other likewise programs work for some, but not for others. I suggest you look into all the possibilities before deciding on a single one. Some ad networks (such as fastclick) may have limitations that you do not wish to follow such as placing their ads above the fold.

Also their payout percentage should be high enough for you to make sufficient income. Usually 50% payouts are too low, you should aim for the 60-80% range.

There are loads of websites that "claim" they can send you traffic

Stay away from services where you can buy traffic or hits to your site. These hits are very untargetted and hardly ever resuly in extra income. A link or banner exchange would be a better alternative.

advertise your site for very low costs

Ad networks that will advertise your site for very low cost are often junky and low quality. You may want to stay away from these as well.

I hope this helps, and best of luck!

Thanks for the reply, but with regards to Fastclick I meant my adverts appearing on their network....not me using them for publishing purposes.

Don't use this : MetricsDirect (pay per click)

- i've put 300 USD on my account with them, and no results, absolutely no results. Google or Overture are the best choice for pay per click.

Good Affiliate program : Primaryads (pay per lead)

-this program worked really great for me, you pay only for the results.

*This is only my personal oppinion

This is a peave I've had with a lot affiliate networks. I went to primaryads website to check them out and I really didn't find out much. Am I missing something or do I have to sign up with them to find out who the advertisers are and what they pay (per lead.)
