Google Affiliate Network Retirement

11:54 pm on Apr 16, 2013 (gmt 0)

Not everyone will like the news...

An update on Google Affiliate Network
Our goal with Google Affiliate Network has been to help advertisers and publishers improve their performance across the affiliate ecosystem. Cost-per-action (CPA) marketing has rapidly evolved in the last few years, and we’ve invested significantly in CPA tools like Product Listing Ads, remarketing and Conversion Optimizer. We’re constantly evaluating our products to ensure that we’re focused on the services that will have the biggest impact for our advertisers and publishers.

To that end, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire Google Affiliate Network and focus on other products that are driving great results for clients.

We’ll continue to support our customers as we wind down the product over the next few months. And there are other products that can help you achieve your goals. Affiliate publishers can continue to earn AdSense revenue through the AdSense network. And marketers can take advantage of other CPA-oriented Google tools like Product Listing Ads, remarketing and Conversion Optimizer to drive valuable online sales and conversions. These areas are growing rapidly and we’re continuing to invest heavily in them.

Thanks for your support of our affiliate product, and we look forward to helping you grow your business in the future.

Will Ebates move their own affiliate program to Azoogle or EWA then?

I joined whatever-it-was-called-before-Google-bought-it a long time ago because of a few advertisers that were using it. The interface was crap then. Google improved it some, but (to me) it was still more difficult to use than other networks. However, I do like a few aspects of their interface more than other networks.

Yeah, that was an awful interface, and the vendors they had were not the greatest. We stopped using their service a very long time ago. Not going to miss that for a moment.

EWA = Ryan Eagle's Eagle Web, another bad CPA network gone bust.

For clarity, i wasn't recommending them, that was sarcasm. :-)

Also was being sarcastic about Ebates. Ebates has a history of overwriting affiliates cookies via toolbars and other very unsavory tactics - imo, affiliates promoting them are stupid. Like standing in your bank of choice, and giving a gun to a known bank robber (without the violence). The fact that GAN was the network of choice for a shatware purveyor like Ebates was my point all along. Why Google would allow their network to swim in the cesspool part of affiliate marketing, is beyond me (that was sarcasm again, it isn't beyond me, it was their Performics DNA).

Ah, NOW you tell me! I logged into my fav affiliate program yesterday that I normally deal with (ahem cj) and noticed that their home page had changed drastically to "entice users of GAN to switch to them". Really, it's an entertaining read :). Although an adsense user for years I had never really heard of GAN, so I searched around and found out more about it. Signed up yesterday, lol. Like others mentioned, nothing exciting for US about the advertisers at GAN.

"Signed up yesterday, lol."

WT#, You could actually sign up?

Hey! Don't #*$! on Performics! They made me $2500 waaaaay back in 2005 and that paid for my very first 720p high definition Sony television.

I made money through blockbuster (their trial) and long before I knew what SEO was.....I was still pimping it online.

It was unexpected and I need to get more plan for it. Google's Affiliate network was excited one for us but I could not do much in this. Anyway, it has closed by them.
