Hello everyone.

I'm about to finish site for expensive custom jewelry, exclusive handmade engraved rings and all kinds of silver/gold tableware, custom engraved knifes, etc.

Unique stuff, VERY good-looking and some items are quite expensive, $2-5k each. Diamonds, jemstones, silver, gold, platinum - you name it.

Besides SEO and PPC advertising I'm thinking to convince my client (friend) to join one of the aff. networks to boost sales and exposure. I will be contacting those networks, of course, but still, looking for advices/tips and some specific questions:

1. What are the costs of joining?

2. I have a lot of contacts with owners of e-commerce sites, big and small - I was involved in developing of 90% of them. Hence the question: how much to ask for managing their programs?

2.1 How much work there really is? How time consuming it is if you are being outsourced (part-time hired) as an affiliate manager for the company?

Most of them clients are not multi-million dollar companies, but most of them could really benefit from AM.

Thanks for your attention and will appreciate every 2 cents!

I had the luxury of spending a few hours with an affiliate manager for one of the biggest companies in this business.

Whatever you do make sure you have offline tracking. A large number of the higher end orders will be phoned in, specially since there are tons of questions that the buyer might have. Never struck me as being important.. given that we sell HDTVs and other consumer items in the similar price range
