I own a domain name with about 3k+ unique visitors visiting each day through type-ins. The users are all looking for firearms/guns related content. Anyone have any idea how much money I can make from this and how to do it? I am setting up a PPC engine from hyperseek this week but I am still very new to the whole thing.

Hunting and Gun Magazines... Lots of affiliate programs in this area offering from 25% to 60% commissions.

Outdoor sites, cover the added extras of outdoor gear used by hunters and people who may use guns.

Hunting and Shooting tours and holidays maybe.

Replicas.

Cheers

As eBay does not accept advertisements for guns, a few gun auction sites has emerged in the past. You might want to ask your favourite search engine for an answer to 'gun auctions', 'gun auctions affiliate' or a similar query.

Is a PPC engine with sidebar ads the way to go with this? Can 3k uniques a day really generate much with a PPC system?

I think you guys have misunderstood the poster. I am very new to this too, so I know exactly what you mean. This however is an affiliate area, totally different concept than what your question is going towards. An affiliate program basically boils down to your website suggesting a product (or several products) to your viewer's, then offering a link for the actual sale from another site, such as Amazon, Ebay, and like 10,000 other company's.

My personal opinion... The PPC ads will not give you the type of revenue to make a living with. It could certainly cover your operating expenses though. Roughly from my Google experience with similar traffic, I would say you could expect $200 per month.

But affiliate programs could certainly bring you in $200 many times over through the month. The trick is first marketing it properly, making sure you well ranked on the search engines (you appear to be from your post), lastly choosing the right affiliate programs that relate directly to your site's content, and or subject/product/s.

Do a Google search for affiliate programs. You will find sites right at the top that have listing in nearly every category, genre, and subject imaginable. Find the ones that would best relate to what brought the traffic to your website. A good way of finding out is by checking your server stats to see what they 'keyed' into the search engine, and use something along those line's.

Best of luck to you.

Sell ammo. CJ has a good merchant that sells ammo at discount prices. I think Cabella has an affiliate program too.

I also found online gambling is a great cross sell with your target demographic.

I agree with those who are pointing you toward affiliate programs rather than PPC. Since Google doesn't allow firearms in their ads, any bids in that area would probably be abysmal. Earnings from alternate PPC solutions are poor as well.

Some well-placed, targeted product placements should return you far more than Google AdWords would have returned anyway.

Chris' suggestions look wonderful. I was going to suggest some of the areas he suggested, but he covered the best ones.
