promo email what are the most popular email clients?

well after a months research I've given up! I just can't find any hard stats on the usage of email clients. we have many a web site, saying who is winning the browser war, but what about the email client war?

has anyone got any urls, evidence, etc, on the usage of email clients?

Do a search on www.wilsonweb.com. He did an extensive survey a while back on email clients and HTML capability.

Well, if browsers and operating systems are any indication, I'd say Outlook Express is probably #1 right now... as much as it pains me (a Eudora/Mac user) to say that. ;)

OLE sure, but there is a huge population of Netscape email users out there yet. They can't give it up.
