The original site was shut down and won't be coming back so he's parked the site with me. Unless something comes up he is probably just going to let it rot away. I can't stand that, so I was wondering is there anything cheap and easy I could do to keep the site alive and making some $$$?
The trouble is, it needs to be easy for my client to run, something you can set and forget mostly. Someone suggested a Topsites site, which would be fine if it could make money (do they!?), but beyond that I'm at a loss as to what to do here -- any ideas?
If the site was shut down for legality reasons, then put up a notification that the site is no longer available, but they can search again using your favorite PPC engine that will pay you the most per click. This is what those domain snatchers do.
that I know, but I was stuggling with that bit since this site was community site that doesn't have a lot of related content that isn't a forum, blog, or something like that. I don't want to get back into community with this site since it need to run on autopilot.

Voluntary.

Yup, but what would be best? I want easy and autopilot that can make some profit. The profit doesn't need to be outstanding, but it needs to be there.
I know exactly how to keep the incoming visitors happy content wise, but my normal methods don't work with the "easy" part of this. Every other time I've done something like this I build out another small site, but that takes more effort that I want to give this.
So, that's why I mentioned the Topsites and I'm also interested in the PPC idea since that would be easy too. Any other ideas?
