A couple of beginner questions

I started with Adsense, but reading this forum convinced me that it's time to start branching out in a big way. I've got my CJ account and my battle plan, and I'm weaning myself off graphics-intensive site designs to make the "slightly ugly" designs that are supposed to convert so well. But now I have a couple of questions:

Regular online merchants have policy pages, shipping pages, FAQs, etc. Do customers subliminally expect to see these--or at least links to these--before they'll trust a store? And if so, what do affiliates put up, since they're not OUR policies, shipping plans, and so forth?

What books on marketing, psychology, and so forth would you suggest for a beginner?

You may be overthinking it.

Users IMHO do not expect to see shipping or any other information on your site. You can guide them through by having a link saying 'view more info on such product here', and get them on to the merchant.

Well! That simplifies things. Thanks a lot.
