Charging for adverts

Is there a formula?

I'm thinking of trying my hand at selling adverts on my site. I do well with AdSense, my site is rated 3 on most search engines for the topic and I get good traffic. This month to date I've averaged typically 1300+ unique visitors per day with nearly 300,000 page views.

The type of ads I'm thinking would be smallish boxes with text, or other formats depending on needs of potential advertisers.

I really have no idea what to charge - I was wondering if some sort of standard scale, or forumla existed.

Feedback welcome.

Thanks

I would see how much overture, google and others are charging for these keywords, then average these prices and charge that much per click. If the advertisers stay, then your rates are in line. If they leave, then you are charging too much. A little testing will allow you to set the pricing at the acceptable market level.

What do you mean by your site is rated 3 on most search engines?

Probably that his site ranks 3 in the SERPS for his major keyword(s).
