The CA senate was supposed to vote today on their latest attempt to force companies with affiliates to collect sales taxes.
Has anyone heard any results?

Companies based in CA, or companies that have affiliates based in CA? On all sales regardless of which affiliate made the sale, or only from CA affiliate sales?

eljefe3- the state wants to get companies with affiliates in CA (like Amazon) to collect CA sales tax on all sales to CA. Amazon, Overstock, and many others will simply terminate CA affiliates (as they have done in other states) if this passes.
lizh- I've already contacted several officials to express my displeasure and point out how the end result is going to be LOWER tax revenue for the state.
Since it looks like they've pushed back the vote until today, it sound (hopefully) like they have been flooded with other complaints and are rethinking it. One can only hope! And one can still hope that even if it does pass, the Governator will veto it like he did to a similar bill last year.
