What's the best way to collect for ad space sales?

So.... what do you all do about this? What payment options do you offer advertisers?

What works best for you?

Paypal? I talked to them, they said they'd email me some info, never happened.

Google Checkout? Can this even be used for ad space sales? I've spent some time looking over the GC pages and am not clear if this is acceptable use or not.

Merchant account? I'd rather not do that if I don't have to.

Check? How long to get the payment in?

ken_b... You take the payment anyway you can. Paypal works easy, check out their ecart options. As for Google Checkout that's g's answer to Paypal so I doubt there's a problem (but I don't KNOW for sure). A merchant account is the most direct method, but does have management/costs attached. As for check: no display until check clears your bank.

Hmm... maybe from a smaller business, but with checks from well known companies?

That's a personal call... with the economy the way it is, and businesses of all kinds failing, or falling behind in their payments, I wouldn't. Been burned once in that regard. Once was enough.

Well, the question is a bit obtuse. Are you wanting to:

- sell ads direct?
- sell ads for a network provider (Doubleclick, AdBrite..etc)
- run banners for lead gen?
- sell bulk space to an ad broker who would resell the space to large networks?

Trying to decide how to deal with advertisers asking to place ads directly on my site.
