Advertising on Forums a new approach

Using search technology to target individual users of your forums vs topic

I have been reading posts on here about search technology , adsense, and affiliate marketing.

It occured to me that if you intergrate a search based algorythym to your users posts on a forum you could identify what the individual user is interested in and present them with ads relevent to them and not just the topic of a thread.

As an example I could find that my user "suzy" is interested in the keywords "college chemistry dating" and present that to an ad generator to present relevent ad's to suzy focusung on those topics.

This is similiar to adsense but distinctly different because it targets just the users interests and not the threads topic. I think this would be more successful than adsense in a forum because of the unique twist.

I could get the products to present my users from a popular online store which offers webservices to pull product information.

Has any one seen or tried this approach?

I did some preliminary testing by running keywords I think would come up through a common script for amazon.

one problem I am encountering with this is that it doesn't reliably pull products.

does anyone have suggestions on other places this might work?
