Hi everyone;

First I have been reading the forums for around a week and have found it a very good resource. I have been online for years and now I'm interested in starting some online venues, and hopefully in the future do something about my day job ( it drives me crazy).

I have decided to start working on some websites for profits, currently I know html and ccs and I will start working on learning to do dynamic sites. Im working right now on a small scale website to learn SEO and a large website of my hobbies.

I have started to research some ideas or topics for website to make profit from, but I'm having some trouble selecting venues, I guess it's part of just getting started.

Sorry for the long message, If anyone have some ideas, suggestions or comments for me(or other new people) I would be glad to hear them.

Thanks

Try vitamins!

Lots of baby boomers are trying to stall the aging process and they've taken to vitamins and supplements as their fountain of youth... But of course, I've got a bias because of my program... sticky me and I'll give you the details if you want.

Don't just look for money. Look for something you're interested in, a unique twist that will make your site unique and useful, and a way to monetize it. Having a unique, useful site makes everything else easier. With a useful, unique site, you can get word of mouth, repeat cutomers, unsolicited links, press coverage, etc.

When Brett started WebmasterWorld.com, I'm sure he didn't do it to make money. It was something he was interested in, and there weren't any good sites that provided a place for webmasters to share ideas. I'm sure it makes a good profit for him, but that was secondary.

I'm sure many of the best sites are similar. There are plenty of good ideas left out there.

I agree, movingonup said it best. Think about your hobbies and what you are interested in. Creating a site such as vitamins, or better sex (being another popular one) or weight-loss is going to take YOU or you hiring someone to write and provide relative content/articles. Your site should be organic.

You could be a writer and enjoy this for all I know, but it is something you should consider before spending a lot of effort in a saturated market. Again, my advice would be matching movingonups which is pick something you genuinly enjoy doing or enjoy writing about and don't expect profit the first year.

Good Luck,
Shane
