Advertisers will be able to bid on ad placements directly through a self-service program found at TheKnot.com and powered by Quigo. Through this account interface, advertisers can choose their bid price, set their total budget and change any element of their campaign quickly and easily.
Sure, you webmasters love that income from Google, but what you really love is that it comes soooo easy for you. Google does the selling for you by bringing everyone together to make a market for ads for wiggets.
What we see is about a 1 to 2 percent click-through on most ads in context with the content on medical/health, entertainment, travel and business/financial sites. (The number we actually use is 1.7. on average for medical/health, it's higher on entertainment, lower on business.) Which means one has to sell one heck of a lot of contextual ads to make money.
If you're a financial web site, or a medical web site or a travel web site, then most of your ads are going to be in context already. (Right, EuropeForVisitors?)
I read where Quigo has sold this package to newspapers. How much news in your paper is in context to anything anyone wants to buy? Not much, I can assure you.
Even though they are much much better contextual advertising services, but they are simply not noticed because of this giant, google. And it's only because they have an ocean full of advertisers.
But yea, it'll be interesting to watch this, anything's interesting if you consider that google is taking over everything. Market is too stale, especially when it comes to contextual advertising.
Could I run both at the same time, or would I have to alternate them to be within TOS?
Nevermind, I found the answer: [webmasterworld.com...]
