Hey Everybody,
Would using adbrite on the same page as adsense be in violation of TOS? What do they consider similar?

yes. Absolutely a violation.

I would have to disagree. AdBrite does not show context based ads. Google forbids competing context based ads or ads that look like their ads. You can easily customize the AdBrite ads to look completely different from Google. I had mine in a "Marketplace" section of links at the bottom of every page. Totally unrelated to Google's ads.

Thats what I am confused over is if I change the colors plus there not context driven. I guess I can try e-mailing goolge

you canchange google's colors too. Anyways, the best way to find out is to fire off an e-mail to the google adsense support. Let us know what they say.

You could also switch to just graphic ads from google as well to show the difference

Have any of you used adbrite? To me you could make more money from them then adsense. I am new to all this and my site won't make much from either, but I am curious as to what other people's experiances are.

I was just in another thread where the poster did receive an email from Google regarding Adbrite. Apparently you are not allowed to have them on the same page as the Google ads.

I've used them before. At first I was making decent money ($100/month) and growing with my list of advertisers growing. But then they implemented a change to their program, which showed performance an all-time performance snapshot of the different ad zones to the advertiser before they signed up. This seemed to turn off any new advertisers to my program, since I was basically selling ad space at the footer of my site (not high clickthrough, but cheap). I ended up pulling them from my site when they stopped performing.

Never did see a check from them either. They owed me over $100. After a system upgrade to their reporting tool I went back in to find my stats wiped out and their reports showing nothing in my earnings.

Oh well. I'll send a few token emails, see if it gets anywhere... Otherwise chaulk it up as a loss. Pocket change compared to what I make with other programs...

I wish $100 was pocket change :) I would be very happy with $100 a month

as previous posters have stated, it is violation of TOS - though I would also say that I've seen many sites which are running adsense and adbrite on the same page. Guess, it is just time that they'll be caught or google may ignore them - who knows?

btw, is there any ad network which can be run on the same page as adsense and would also be allowed by adsense TOS?

Any regular banner network like Fastclick, Tribal, Burst can be displayed in the same page as Adsense. All you have to make sure of is to turn off the contextual ads they sometimes serve.

Well to besafe I am not going to run them on the pages with adsense I will put them on the pages that adsense will not target correctl that was my original Idea.

Just an update... amazingly I just received email notification of a payment being sent out to me from AdBrite (for about $70) from October! So I guess they do pay, eventually... ;-)

maximillianos,

Adbrite is NET 90. Therefore I think they are on time with the payment. Stop giving me a scare! I just got my first advertiser with them.

And they are expanding, looks like they are going public.

They are more picky these days over the page impressions a site has to deliver in order to be accepted, but in our experience they pay good money (> $1000 per month), regularly.

Adbrite, we trialled, but were not impressed with.

So is there some one more experience with AdSense and Adbrite?

I was earning about USD 300/m from AdSense on my site and after the new Google algo change i am now earning avg. 170/month a big change. My site has more than 35000 unique visitors a month and the content is hardly changed in last 1 and half years. It is all html pages about 300 in total. Infect my site was showing only one AdSense skyscraper before but now I have added two no difference yet.

Is it worth to turn it off AdSense and move to Adbrite? As I understood you can not run both. Experience advice required.

Thanks

I think you should move over to AdBrite because you just competely violated AdSense TOS, they are very strict it. It is against their policy to discuss your earnings in any event.

Looks like the adsense police is here... give it a break. Whoohoo he stated an average income off of his adsense earnings. This is really getting old, we cant have a discussion without someone coming in about the google terms and conditions being broken. Let me tell you a secret, google is not god.

We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services. This would include ads that mimic Google ads or otherwise appear to be associated with Google on your site. If you have elected to receive content-based Google ads, this would also include all other content-targeted ads.

How does Adbrite violate this part of the TOS?

You are that same person who wouldn't think shoplifting is stealing. "All I did was take a bag of chips, so what, no one will miss it". I hope you are not a webmaster because if you have customers they probably don't know you don't have any morals or ethics. Rules are rules and if I sign something (electronically or physically) then I live by the terms, not outside of the box on what I believe is right. Thumbs down to you.

Hey,

Let google handle their own stuff. People state numbers all the time. It's their decision...

All the Best,

We are in a business. It's a fool who ignores how much money he earns from his business. It is also a fool who sticks his head in the sand because someone tells him to do so.

If you're concerned about their future, AdBrite also just received funding from Sequoia.

(yes the same VC firm that help fund Google & Yahoo.

Well, that is no longer relevant, saying publicly how much you make, due to google revised TOS permitting it. They finally figured out it is good publicity to say how much you earn, because most of us are earning a bundle.

So, how about it. Can you run both on the same page, or no?

From my understanding Adwords terms are still the same. Adsense policy has changed and it only pertain to Adsense not Adwords.

I'm not policing or enforcing anything just trying to clear up speculations. Thanks.

Apparently not -considering that there is Adsense and Adbrite on the site that GoogleGuy pointed out to (and was kind enough to help them get reincluded after they were dropped from G) at the URL he has mentioned in his post (msg #21) at: [webmasterworld.com...] I would want to believe that had this (running Adsense and Adbrite on the same page) been a violation of Google Adsense T&C, that site would not have probably survived a scrutiny that it would have received while being considered for reinclusion in Google index.

But then this is still mere speculation/extrapolation on my part. If you want to play it safe, check with Google/GoogleGuy/Googlette.
