I'm looking for advice as to the best approaches to maximising advertising income. I want to get the most amount of money for the level of traffic coming into my site at all times.

Advertising will likely be the sole income source and I am interested in the correlation between traffic levels and differing advertising strategies(ie types of ad to use and types of companies to sell and negotiate space with).

The website will be multi level(not sure the proper terminology!) not entirely disimilar to social networking sites like Myspace......but serving a different purpose and without quite as many features.

I'm grateful for whatever info I can get.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld! The key is testing to see what works best for you and your site(s). For one site it might be cpm, for another it might be cpc, yet for another it might be cpa. Test test test to see what works best.
