I have site which is basically a ridiculous/parody site that gets about 12k visitors per month. Is there some kind of general advertising program that I could benefit from?

Maybe Amazon--but don't just slap up banners or links to the Amazon home page. Make lists of recommended books that fit with the content of your site. That Jon Stewart book that's a parody of a high school history textbook comes to mind...
