Huge Spike in Clicks

Hi,

I currently run an espotting partner site through a small(ish) Uk affiliate scheme.

Have noticed that just recently there has been a few days where our clicks have seen a massive spike (about a regular months worth of clicks appearing in a single day)

As our commision is CPC based it's a little concerning to think that the affiliate scheme will notice these aswell and pull our total revenue. So the question is, if I suspect someone is using my site for click fraud purposes, is there anything I can do about it?

Its only small time but I would hat for all my revenue to disappear cause some clown is clicking my ads too often..

Why do you call them an "Uk affiliate scheme"? The word "scheme" makes it sound fishy. :)

I'm running my own ad server and I sometimes see huge number of clicks, too. My guess is the mass downloaders that set to follow all links. Don't know following the link of a banner by a mass downloader will intended to be as a click or not.. Any idea?

Not long ago I started getting huge spikes for one specific keyword. I'm sure it was landing on someone page and they just clicked and clicked.

I should have put it on record but instead I just cut that particular keyword.

View your logs, check out which IP could be causing those huge click spikes and ban that IP. That's what I do.

This is too often with my users as well, I get certain no of clicks, and it's always around that number. But with my users you never know, so this no oscillates, depending on a day of a week, week itself and etc... But today my generated revenue was almost 100% greater then the usual revenue, so I simply had to block few IPs.
