How to get a program running and get affiliates to promote it?

What's the best way to go?

I am a product manufacturer.

We have started a web affiliate program and I am looking for a place where I can announce to webmasters our intentions.

Would this forum/website be the appropriate place? If not, does anyone know where would be good?

Thanks in advance,

N

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, HDR PainLotions.

I think you may be misunderstanding the purpose of the forums here at WebmasterWorld. It's not for promotion of your site by advertising here but a community dedicated to helping each other. For example, in this forum you learn more about the inside-outs Advertising Sales and Affiliate Programs. Have a quick read through the Terms of Service [webmasterworld.com] as well as the Charter [webmasterworld.com] for the forum in which you intend to post.

I guess the question I am posting is...

we are a manufacturering company, we would like to advertise to webmasters, where would someone like us do that?

Try searching for things like affiliate marketing forums, boards, joining a major network like CJ or LInkShare can be a good way to get some exposure. Hiring someone to manage it with experience in the affiliate world - an outsourced program manager can use their connections to get the program in front of more people.

I contacted CommissionJunction today and the additude I got on the phone was quite disheartening. This is a very small label that has been in business for over 10 years but badily marketed. Until a few months ago, I used to contract to a excellent Brand name. I know the power of a powerful brand. But the additude I got form CJ was "If you aren't well known, then it's not that interesting for us on a CPA Deal". Maybe it was just the person I was talking to, but he seemed very CPM mentality... That just seemed weird. I ended the call with "Well, I will just call you guys when we are bigger then." and hanged up.

SO I was search for some others. That's how I got here. I haven't tried LinkShare yet. At my previous Brand, we didnt use either of these. We just had our own Affiliate Section. More and More, I am beginning to think that is a better and cleaner way to go.

I could be wrong....
