I have identified countless websites in my niche that I would like to promote my product in their store or on their site. What is the best way to contact these sites and have them take me seriously, and not just some spammer who wants their product promoted or shameless affiliate pyramid scheme. The business partnership is serious, and we dont want to just be ignored. We are talking about an actual product here that needs to be shipped not some pdf ebook.

1) Address your email to the correct person by name
2) Apologise for arriving in their inbox in an unsolicited manner
3) Explain why you think their website is a good marketing channel for your product - make it clear that you have spent some time on their website and pick out a few individual features on the site that you like
4) Understand that the time they are already setting aside for their projects is a greater priority than the time they set aside for your projects.
5) Ask if they would like to explore some kind of partnership with you at a time when they are not busy
6) Leave it in their hands as to whether they wish to proceed or not
7) Throughout the email, write with sincerity; explain who you are and what your motives are clearly and unambiguously.
8) Do not use capitals, superlatives or exclamation marks.

ronin's points are all really excellent. I think if possible you should note how it will mutually benefit that other person, even if its in the way of a link exchange that will net them additional traffic. Or you may want to wait until they get back to you, some people may not require anything back, mainly if they are not a business themselves and just an information website.

Best of luck.
