The dot-com death march is continuing, Kagan Media Money is reporting, thanks to an online ad market that continues to deteriorate. No worries at America Online, which is (remember this phrase) a "walled garden."

A force to be reckoned with:

"This year we project AOL will take 41% of Web ad dollars - about $2.8 billion - four times the share of nearest competitor Yahoo!."

"Last month, the online company announced it has passed the 30 million subscriber mark, doubling its size in 30 months..."

The beast grows.

Also notable:

"In the short term, Kagan Media Money does not project a recovery of the ad market until 2002--and as a result, online properties relying on marketing dollars for their bread and butter will likely continue to struggle."

"Even by 2002, revenue from online ads may not rebound to 2000 totals."
Will they ever?
