How far is too far for a non techie to be involved?

Hi,

I'm looking to have somebody build me a dashboard to interface with the affiliate networks API's in order to manage ad links for my site. Does anybody know if after I get this set up, whether I (a non technical person)would be able to maintain the "system"? My fear is that if the API services and support from the networks is poor, or if technical specifications change much over time, I'd be sunk, trying to make things work.

I'd definitely want to have a friend handy who was techie that could help out in a pinch.

I am not sure what sort of setup you are having , but starting using a CMS would be good thing for you. You can use that easily , inserting aff links there and managing your self.

Its good to learn yourself slowly slowy...then to hire a coder from start only if you are not having any financial backbone

Don't think a CMS will be able to handle all of the various functions that getting data feeds and api feeds needs. OP wants to get various feeds and then manage from there if I understand correctly.

It true, I do also need an efficient way to manage links once I get them. It sounds like a CMS would do it, but does anybody know if there are any CMS's that are designed specifically for link management? I'd to put my own descriptions on the links, and also to categorize them.

Getting and managing large numbers of links must be quite a common thing for affiliates, but frankly, I havent been able to find if there are common ways the tasks involved are handled. I havent found any suitable 3rd party software. I wonder if most affiliates must write their own programs to do this. ?
