Signed up in amazon recently, put some books ads close related to theme in my pages. This far I get 1 click daily.

I didn't expect much but I think I will get a conversion for 2099, so I better remove those.

Sounds like my click-through stats for Amazon.com. Plus, their commission rates are ridiculously low.

Removed amazon right away.

May anybody suggest other thing besides adsense? (Yahoo not counting since I'm not in US)

You can try Chitika (PPC), but you need to have high-traffic to get in now. Their ads feature products, inventory drawn from Amazon and Shopping.com from what I see (Not very many books though).

The ads are not contextual though, you set them by keywords you can insert in each ad. So if you insert "gps navigation" for example, the ads will show various GPS navigation products.

Conversion is not as good as Adsense, but definitely better than Amazon. They are compatible to display with Adsense on the same pages as well.

Amazon doesn't work for everyone, and you have to find the right approach.

I average 1,000 visitors a day to a site that doesn't have Amazon on every page, about 100 clicks to Amazon daily, resulting in an average of 8 items sold--monthly income from Amazon of ~$250.

purplecape: you could make more from the CPC ads of 0.15+

I already do. I use both AdSense and Amazon on many pages. And my AdSense average CPC is a good bit better than the number you give....

Amazon works pretty well for me, $X00 per month. However the products I feature complement the site well. I pick each product and put up specific links that I think will work. It just takes time, traffic, and the right products.
