I want to start an affiliate system (web based) where our affiliate clients can log in and track their earning through referrals (PPC), lead conversation etc.

We want to work on leads and lead conversions mainly. Any suggestion for scripts, we have a good technical team, should we buy or build?

Thanks,

A thread similar to what yours asks has been ongoing for a couple of weeks now on this very forum, here [webmasterworld.com]

A lot of it comes down to resource (financial and human) and expectations. Outsourcing can cost you money on monthly fees and signup fees etc, but you get instant access to a large base of contacts. Going in-house takes away the financial signup burden, and gives you greater access to those who signup, but you do not have an instant affiliate network to tap into (you have to build it) and it puts a lot of pressure on your development teams in terms of support.

We have an out-sourced affiliate program and have recently launched our own in-house, self built, program. While it is not yet earning the vast sums we hope for in the future, it is already generating good revenues. When you take account of the charges applied to our outsourced program, our self built program is doing very well indeed - because we only pay commissions to the affiliate rather than commissions, plus the over charge of commission, plus the monthly management fee that we have to pay for the outsourced version.
