Personally, I think Amazon is not really good for sites, since they only give a 24-hour return cookie. It would take some really well-targeted traffic to get commissions in such a timeframe. Brand trust probably compensates for the low commissions (starting at 4%), but based on earlier argument I wouldn't go for amazon. I suggest you shop around CJ (commission junction) to find an aff. program that suits your specific niche.

As for your ads... I feel sorry for you, losing your adsense account. I can't help you with that.

You could try Bidvertiser, but they give me a very low CTR. CPCs are quite good though and they pay out on time. The main problems are that the ads are not set by the content of the page like AdSense, and that the same ads can be shown throughout your site.

If you are located in the US, you could try Yahoo Publisher Network. Chitika is another PPC program, which features products instead of text ads.

My company also recently lost its adsense account, and are trialing new options.

chitika
roughly 15% of adsense.
Not staying long here.

Bidvertiser.
Roughly, nothing. We were in for 24 hours, 17500pi, no clicks, then told we were not a good fit and booted out.

Got a client to apply for her site. Was in for 12 hours, roughly 8,000 pi, one click for 3 cents, then again, also booted out.

Wow. Pretty funny.

Adbrite.
Applied 8 hours ago, straight in. Is doing better than adsense. Its got to be a mistake, too good to be true, but for now its real. CTR is 40% lower, but click value is almost twice as high.

Running one set of ads as well as inline ads, but no popups or anything like that.

I've tried Adbrite on two separate occasions about 3 years apart. On both occasions it had extremely low income when compared to Adsense. I trialled it the second time on two very different sites. In Europe, Tradedoubler can be used. I have it on one of my sites together with Adsense. It earns nowhere near the Adsense income but it earns more than Adbrite ever did.

The only alternative to Adsense that earns a sensible income on my sites are individual affiliate schemes run by the advertising company themselves. I use text links rather than their banners and that earns some money.

Sorry to hear about the Adsense account. The angle to work on is getting is returning to Adsense in some form or another. Why not try getting into partnership with someone who has an account or is likely to be able to get one? Good luck.
