What do you consider a good sales-ratio?

Hi. Ive been reading at this board for a while, without registering.

Seems like a great place.

I used to make a living working as an affiliate a few years back.

Im looking to make my way back into the marketing-world. I've created a product about on how to make money online.

I bought some adwords traffic for my site, to see how well it converts. So far it seems to be making around 40-50 cents/visitor. I want to setup an affiliate program paying 75% to affiliates.

What im curious about is, if you guys has any opinion on how much a product within this area (online marketing) should generate in dollar/visitor.

What im trying to figure out is if my site has potential, and if its likely that affiliates would be willing to promote it.

The traffic Ive been receiving has mostly been from the adsense networks (I hope this somewhat represents the traffic that I would be able to receive from affiliates).

Thank you and good luck

/Mike

Welcome Mike,

Do you mean that you are promoting materials that teach people how to do online marketing? Like Rich Jerk, Day Job Killer, that sort of thing?

I'm not sure, but I don't think many people here do that kind of affiliate marketing (at least I don't know of any that do), but my general impression is that affiliates expect a hefty payout for any sales in that market.

I'm not sure I really understand your question though.

One thing on AdSense, is you typically want to segment your traffic into the search network and the content network and bid lower on the content network (or exclude it entirely).

Hi

Im sorry if my question wasnt so clear.

Yes, my product would fall into the same category as Those sites that you mentioned.

The traffic that Ive been receiving from adwords has been 99% from the content network. However, I find that that traffic is infact converting fairly good for me, Ive been making 30-40cent/visitor.

However, im still bidding too low to receive alot of traffic from the search network, maybe I can bid higher on that traffic and expect that it will convert even better? Im not sure.

Well, my question is, I guess, if it's likely that the site I've created will be attractive for affiliates to promote if it can convert somewhere around 1/30 for the prize of $9.95 (this is so far only based on googles content network and maybe that doesnt mean much), and I pay somewhere around 60-75% to the affiliate.

Im just in this stage trying to figure out if my product is converting good enough, so I know if I should work on my salesletter or if I should just start to promote my sites toward affiliates as much I can already now.

Thank you very much for your answer and good luck with your business
