Are sales following the trend?

With all the climate awareness hype going on, are you people seeing any increase in sales from 'green' widgets? Or are people still shunning these because of the generally higher price tag? This thing is getting pretty big and I was wondering whether it would be worthwhile to re-target a bit towards the growing group of environment-friendly people.

Does anybody have some experience with this class of widgets? If so, is demand growing with all the media attention?

A few green-related searches have an upward curve according to Google Trends - see [google.com...]

Sales and margins are reportedly growing in the food supply sector-- local produce (green in reducing fuel burn) and organic (reduced synthetics) are experiencing extremely rapid growth where I live, to such an extent that it's creating shortages. People don't want to eat or give their kids 2nd-hand x-icides, growth hormones and antibiotics in their meat, milk, cheese etc and details like pesticides on produce are sticking in peoples' minds.

Definitely a big factor. A lot of it depends on how well you differentiate and explain the advantages of the "green" product.

Frequently such products have other advantages in addition to being friendlier to the environment, and you should stress these equally. For example, efficient light bulbs are significantly less expensive over the lifetime of the bulb, organic produce means you don't end up feeding yourself pesticide residue, I have a gas-efficient on-demand water heater and because it has no tank it lasts longer and can provide unlimited hot water. That sort of thing.
