Best guide to getting started...

Books? Websites (here?). Need to get to next level..

So, I have a bunch of websites that get traffic between 1,000 and 20,000 uniques a month and while I have done OK on Adsense my Affiliate sales have always been pretty bad. I have some books linked, auto-Amazong keyword ads, but it is still not going anywhere ($200+ a year?).

Can anyone point me towards a great book or good guide that I should be reading.

I guess I am just not getting it.

For me this forum was the best resource, dig in and read as much as you can here. I'm still learning myself, but slowly getting there. It takes about a year to figure it out.

I agree with the above. Read, read, and read some more. Then apply what you think would be helpful.

Try lots of things. Some will fail horribly, but at least you know. Others will work like a charm - do more of those things.

I learnt (and am still learning) by trial and error and just trying stuff. It is amazing the unexpected knowledge you can pick up out of failed projects. All the little things add up.

Read, but also ask questions that are tailored to what your current challenge is. When I started I was swamped by the information available here and there was just so many fronts to learn from and where does one start?

I think that I learned a lot from a sort of osmosis - just absorb everything you can, and then the knowledge will popup (or give you pointers) where to go from wherever you are.

Usually when an affiliate is having problems getting conversions for sales/leads its because of the type of content on their site and too much selling rather than pre-selling. Sticky me for a very good read I found on this subject.

yes. preselling works. and so does getting the visitor off your site asap.
