First, you're asking for "valuable information," which many webmasters are quite reluctant to share. After all, if I've found that I can make a lot of money from a particular merchant's affiliate program, and I tell you about it, you might end up "poaching" some of my traffic and commissions.

Second, why would you limit your universe to just Commission Junction? I personally despise CJ, and won't do business with any merchant who uses CJ as their affiliate technology. There are several companies that are more reputable, more competent, and more honest. Certainly, a lot of affiliates make a lot of money from merchants who use CJ, but a lot of affiliates make a lot MORE money through other affiliate networks.

The "best" affiliate program will vary by affiliate, web sit, niche, etc... A great afiliate for a travel site may never make a sale on a technology site.

However, for general "bestness," CJ offers that information in Account Manager- just compare the EPCs and Network Earnings of the various advertisers.

They didn't say that they did limit themselves to CJ. They were asking specifically about them. And CJ is one of the top affiliate networks out there. Not having any problems with them.

There are lots of great programs in CJ and you can find top performers in lots of industries from shoes and clothing, to home improvement, jewelry, hosting, finance, whatever you want. The number of green bars and the EPC in there give you an indication of how well the programs perform but ultimately success depends on two things - your ability to send people who want to buy to the right landing page and the conversion rate of the site.

Pick merchants that match our site content or build a site designed specifically to promote a wide variety of products. Sometimes a low number of green bars or a low EPC or both can spell a huge opportunity if nobody is doing much in that particular market.
