I have an affiliate website that gets all of it's traffic from search engines. I am curious if any of you use radio, print, tv, etc, to promote an affiliate site? Do these means work for you?

No I would never use anything other than the Internet to promote an affiliate site, unless it was a huge brand like shopping.com, or orbitz.com.

Problems with offline advertising:

1. No good way to track results
2. Expensive
3. The audience is not as targeted

Just my thoughts...

We have a weekly half hour informational radio show that generates many more phone leads than website hits. Without the 800 number, it would be a money loser.

Actually radio, TV, and print can work, but the best way to accomplish it is to mask a domain and point it to your affiliate link.

I've done this with a Christian bookstore and enjoyed moderate success. It is more expensive, and it's not targeted, but if your ROI is high enough, it could be another avenue to bring additional revenue and reach potential customers who may not have known that they even wanted what you're selling.

Yes, gdrumm has a good point. You can totally track ROI of offline spend with separate domains.

We do this with a separate domain for radio. Our problem is that the target listeners aren't internet savvy at all. The main focus in an 800 number.

I have tried offline advertising in national UK newspapers and it does bring a small profit - not comparable to internet advertising ROI, but a profit nevertheless.
