Since the end of July, our AdSense earnings are 1/5th of our 3-year average.
We have six websites with AdSense displayed, with a total of around 4,000 visitors per day. Those numbers have dropped around 10% since the end of July, so it's not a lack of traffic.
What it is, mostly, is the reduction in the click-value we are receiving. It's now an average of only 1/4 of what we used to get.
And our click-through rates are slightly lower (4% rather than 5%) on average for all our sites.
So, it must be "Smart Pricing" I guess. Well, Google will just smart publishers over to their competitors, I guess.
Who should we consider to replace Google AdSense?
Thanks

I hate smart pricing. The 1st day of this month was good as far as price per click, since then it has been dropping. Every month it does that. I get a few good days in a row with decent pay per click, then a long streak for at least a week with very low pay per click. It can take 2 to 3 weeks to recover, then it drops back again.
This is not something you would ever want to depend on for your main income source as far as paying bills, food, etc.
I only use it for additional income to help out with all my expenses that have gone up drastically.
I will hang in there as long as I can, or until I find something more stable.
I would do a little more tweaking... make sure the top box is seen by Google as the top box and has not given your top cpc ads to a lower position on the page because of the html.
1. Yahoo (OK)
2. Chitika (doing OK on various product review pages)
3. CBprosense (Doing great set in addition to the above)
4. Fastclick/valueclick (Great pay per impression filler)
5. Direct affiliate links + direct advertisers
But affiliate income is usually much higher than AdSense (3x to 8x depending on the niche). That's why I said I'd be making a lot if I had your traffic.
However, I don't have that reach yet, my site is constantly growing at an excelent speed but I'm still playing in the low numbers (about $14/day with AdSense).
You need to work on improving the quality of your advertisers. Have you read everything you can on the subject in the AdSense forum?
No one else (in my opinion) comes even close to the quality of the AS program.
BTW, those server ads appear above your AdSense? How many ads are you showing on a typical page?
This is the $64,000 question, and so far I've never heard any credible claim from anyone that they've earned more money from any AdSense-like program than from AdSense.

sticky mail me and I will give you the company. I don't want to be accused of spamming this board and PLUS - I get a tier 2 affiliate payout if you sign up and generate money.
Suffice it to say, that Adsense woke up one day & decided that I was violating their TOS and started giving me a hard time. I switched to brand "X" on my important pages and I make 3-4 times what I made with Adsense. Plus when you start to make them money, you can negotiate a higher comission payout.
Adsense - they never tell you what your % is. For all you know it could be 15%.
I still have adsense on some pages but their payout is skinpy.
What I will say is that this is a publicly traded company & they display at the big Danny Sullivan meetings
