Affiliate Offers

Are they just spam

I've had a couple of emails recently inviting me to become an affiliate for sites. They are well targetted and complementary to my site.

I'm wondering if they are worth looking further into, or if the fact that they were unsolicited indicates that the sites should be avoided at all costs.

Automated message?

Whois email addy?

They ignore any contact info on your site?

If it smells like spam, treat it like spam. Otherwise you'll encourage more of the same.

Once in a while though you might find a program that fits well with your sites and can make you some instant $$ jsut by putting up their links.....Once in a while.

The time it takes to read every aff promo to find a few useful ones would be much better spent actively looking for programs yourself.

I don't do biz with companies that send mass UCE, but that's just me.

Are you a member CJ? If so, you are only being invited to new programs. Not spam. Check the bottom of email to determine CJ or not.

Neither seem to be sent by cj, although one is affiliated through CJ. I may use that one on one page where it is relevant. (It's very geograpically targetted).
The other was more likely to make money, but I can't find info other than the page were they send me to sign up, so I doubt I'll use it, but I may look for a similar program that I like better, I know they are around.

I wouldn't necessarily avoid them at all costs. As has already been said here, if it seems spammy, use discretion. There are affiliate programs out there that will send you emails based on your site and what it has to offer. You never know what kind of a deal they might want to set up with you. I at least take a look at all of them.

I signed up for CJ at one stage, but it doesn't seem to want to know me now. I went there to take a closer look at one program. It won't send me an password because no active account, and it won't let me create an account because the email address has been used. Grrr... Too hard for now I think.

CJ dropped me too - I guess I didnt make enough sales to their liking. Try Linkshare dot com - they are a big network of affiliates also.

Not all biz related emails are spam . . .

Many are business development efforts. Someone looked at your site / category and send you an email to work with them.

This is not body part enlargement spam - it is business!

my biggest paying affiliate program approached me directly over two years ago and it was a "Dear Webmaster" e-mail too...without my name.

You have to look at these things on a case-by-case basis and the more people cut off their noses to spite their face, the less competition there is for me.

I also believe you should read these emails - if I want for a partnership that could add $1000s to your bottom line how else do I contact you?

>how else do I contact you?

Errmm, follow the instructions on the site for contacting me?

I used to read them, but I have never found anything automated in my inbox that was better than I could find on my own, or by word of mouth.

Companies that have taken the time to find my site in the serps, looked it over to determine we would really be a good match - they actually used the contact method I request. Many of those have worked out to be beneficial for both parties.

As always you may have different results than I have, but I don't waste my time with junk email anymore.

Do CJ vendors know which are high-performing affliates? I've been getting a lot of requests from vendors in the last few days, which seems to coincide with nice Christmas sales from my existing vendors.
