Start by considering your resources:
Do you have the money to buy professional web building and web promotion?
Do you have the skills and time to do it yourself?
Do you have any specialized knowledge that would give you an advantage over the 20,000 people who also want to make a fast buck?
You cannot buck the market on selling prices, but if you can source items cheaply, you can sell at a profit. Do you?
And so on.
Then be thinking about what interests you - a Harry Potter web site can make big money for a harry Potter enthusiast, but b*gg*r all for someone who sneers at kid's fiction. A Black Sabbath web site is probably too late - but a fan could be happy trying!
And so on.
Then be thinking about the competition. You cannot beat Amazon - but can you do better than some of the 100,000 (I'lm guessing) Amazon affiliates?
Can you use CJ profitably, bearing in mind the commission for may lines is pathetically low.
There's no standard answers; start with what you have, what you know and what you enjoy, and you'll have a chance. Go for waht looks 'easy', and you'll join the 20,000 others with no imagination or differentiation :)
Good Luck ;)
Once a site receives a lot of attention, advertisers will fall over themselves to buy space from you.
