Basic traffic to $ model?

Is there some kind of basic model available that shows what kind of traffic you need to do a certain amount of advertising revenue? I recall seeing something somewhere a while back, but I don't remember where it was. From my own calculations over the last couple years, it appears it would take about 500k of page impressions per month, to make about 1000k of ad revenue per month. Of course that's just a very basic guess based on multiplying the average of data I get on my sites. I'm just curious if I'm even in the ball park.

IMHO the source and the quality of the traffic counts for more than the volume.

Totally niche dependent. Some niches you could net $2,000 from 1k visitors (legal/finance etc..)...other niches you may only make $5 from that traffic (humour site..jokes etc)...
