Popup blockers are free these days and the latest IE even automatically blocks them. Very soon, no one can see your popups anymore ;)
I now use some sort of hover ad thing (draggable layer) but it can't "act" as an exit pop, only shows up on entry.
It is not blockable and is allowed on PPCs.
If you have a free newsletter or training course that you use to make follow-up sales, I would definitely suggest float-ins. I personally use this on different traffic-pulling pages on my site and I have consistently seen higher opt-in rates.

I use float-ins for some pages on my website and I've found them to be pretty effective in certain instances.
I'm not so sure about float-ins actually. Do they distract the visitor from what you are trying to sell?
I would have thought that an "unblockable exit popup" will be less annoying. It does not distract the visitor who is interested and at the same tries to catch the email of a visitor who is leaving :)
IBut is there such a thing as an unblockable exit popup?
(please don't derail the discussion into the "good" and "evil" of opening links in a new window -- it's been done so many times here before)
