Please tell us what steps you've taken to make sure your Adwords advertising is well targeted and will attract good prospects.

First i started using commission junction advertising a pay per lead program for software. $20 per lead.
then i started one with clickbank which is to help men lose weight I thought it had a good sales pitch so i went with that..
here are the steps i took....

* checked out the competition using a program to help generate & research keywords.. found there was an average of 10 -15 campaigns for comman keywords.

* generated a list of keywords with that program around 600 that where relevent.

* started a Adwords campaign for each profucts used the keywords i generated for each product.

* wrote what i thought where good ads

* bid price $0.20 for each

* started campaign...

I havent got a landing page for either... linking straight to merchants site.

please fill in what im not doing right

I was just thinking I own a small site that I have about loans..
very little traffic...
I was thinking maybe I should use this site to create a landing page or a review page....
then use adwords?

only loans and anything to do with loans have a very high bid price so i dont know if its worth it..

What do you guys think

Unless you are pushing loans related products, don't just use your loans site as a landing page "hub". Register a new domain, it's cheap and easy.

One thing that comes to my mind, and from my experience, is that perhaps you are bidding on too many generic keywords for your niche. These keywords tend to get a ton of clicks, but rarely convert very well (some do). You'd be better off finding a few thousand longer tail keywords as I've discovered, and many others too, that they tend to convert better anyways...even if the volume is lower. However, find thousands of these longer tail keywords and they will match the volume of the top 50 keywords in that niche..and be at a lower CPC resulting in higher number of sales and higher ROI.

First off, paying 20 cents per click when you have no experience in this space is just flushing money down the toilet.

Last Christmas, I ran one affiliate campaign (direct-to-merchant PPC) where I spent an average of 7 cents per click and made about $10,000 profit. If I'd spent 20 cents per click, I would have made much less money (total sales would have been higher, but not enough to offset the expense).

There is a LOT of work to be done to plan and test and optimize campaigns. You simply cannot expect to launch your first campaigns and earn profits.

If your strategy is to simply make money by "redirecting" traffic from AdWords to your site to the merchant, you're not very likely to profit at all, unless you actually ADD VALUE in some way.
