How do I gather demographics on the people visiting our site (other than the obvious page views)?
When selling advertising, what are the most important demographics companies would want to know?
The basics are:
- Target audience
- Age of visitor
- Country of visitor
- Interests, hobbies etc
- Are they a decision maker within their organisation (for b2b websites).
The best way to find out what else they want to know... is to approach potential advertisers in your area and ask them :)
I have seen demographics on other sites and wondered if they were true or not. Is there any way to know if they are and in reverse, if I can prove to advertisers that mine are true as well?
I'm getting my demo survey via Burst!, who provides a link for visitors to answer questions advertisers want to know, so I'll be guaranteed that the questions are the ones advertisers desire. Also, since Burst! is conducting the survey, I think it holds more weight than if I did it myself. Or so goes this line of thinking.
