Korean Mall Affiliate Programs?

Are there programs available to US websites?

I have an interesting dilemma. I have a website that is basically brand new - in the process of being developed. After examining the traffic stats, it looks as if I already have a small built in audience - that being Korean visitors. It seems that I have the same domain name as a Korean website save the .com . that domain simply forwards to an online mall and doesn't have any pages. (By the way I’ve owned the domain for about 2 yrs – so I didn’t purposely plan this)

I contacted the company who runs the online mall and they notified me that they don't have an affiliate program for US websites. So my problem is.. I don't want to lose the traffic; can someone recommend a Korean Online Mall that has affiliate programs for US websites?

Thank you in advance - what a cool site!

HI KrisK and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

I'm sure you've already looked up "Korean mall affiliate program" correct?

I'd say until you can find a program, use a contextual ad program to get revenue such as adsense. Heck you could even contact the Korean website and see if they wanted to buy your traffic ( if you don't want to keep flying under their radar).

Thanks for your reply... I will do a search on "Korean Mall Affiliate Program"

I tried to look up the "Whois" on the other domain but it seems not to be that easy to find since it is a .co.kr - But that is an option - I didn't know companies buy traffic, I thought it was just through click through or through sales... Of course I'm really new at this.

KrisK,

Welcome to WW!

I stickied you a response and CC'd someone who may be able to help.

As I mentioned in the sticky, most Korean merchants don't have the resources to handle foreign customers. And international shipping makes it very difficult for them to be competitve with the added price.

As such, they tend to focus on Korea-based sites. However, there are other people in a similar position (sites outside Korea getting Korea-based traffic), so there is definitely a niche market there. The issue is whether or not that niche would ever get big enough to get people to try to tap into it.
