Hello

As CPA model of affiliate is being used on our website we have no idea to confirm about what happens after visitor clicks the link of affiliate , how to track this , i guess there is no way we can except trusting merchants

thats the hardest part in CPA model , no why to confirm what visitor do when clicks you aff links

We dont have any idea of fair success except the final sales if reported actually by merchant

Yes, it is.

It's easy to understand why some merchants like the CPA model and why some publishers don't like the CPA model.

A lot of bad things can happen on the way to a sale.

*Customer deletes cookie (or his AV software does), before buying.
*Aff ID gets overwitten by adware.
*Merchant tracking goes down.
*Network tracking goes down.
*Tracking software set up wrong.
*Shopping cart malfunction.
*Merchant website down.
*Customer adds item to shop. cart, but leaves to find a 'coupon' on another site (overwriting your cookie)

you just have to try different merchants, then throw out the crap...

Is this sale of products or lead generation? And is this an independent program or through a network?

Some networks perform periodic (not announced) tests of tracking. Also you as affiliate can test the merchant by doing a test purchase. If it is something you can't test and you don't know if any 3rd party is testing it, check the affiliate forums. Bad news spread quickly and cheating merchants will be discovered sooner or later.

At the end of the day is it the bottom line that should guide your decision. If it does not convert for you, then it does not matter if the tracking works 100% or not. If it simply does not work, ditch the merchant and try another one. Comparing multiple merchants is always a good idea, because merchant websites also convert differently.

Cheers!

i am not into affiliate stuff , just tried Amazon for few days rejected it dont work , then i just took this merchant which is perfect complement to my this very website

What are your experiences with merchants using own open affilate program instead of joining big networks like cj and linkshare

this merchant is running own program and i cannot find exactly whats going on , i got one sale since i sent 50 visitors . Although CPA payout is good but i am expecting much better results around 1 sale every 10 visitors

I removed the links of this merchant after running for two days and no sale , and immedately next in next two days i got email you have got sale email , thats what keeps me off the toes , was this genuine email or what are they watching things and paying to keep publishers attracted to them?

I might be wrong , so i am testing things ads are running lets see how it goes

it might be a good idea to stick to the really big networks who have extensive metrics till you're experienced in this particular form of market.

I've found the metrics of the network I use very very revealing an useful, once I started to work at understanding them

I can sense the potential , but methinks a site has to be built with affiliate marketing in mind, so i'm experimenting

No, no, no - not 10%, not even the average merchant sites themselves generally get that high a conversion rate, from all channels.

One out of 50 is not bad at all, it happens to be very good. One out of a hundred is considered average.

Were you doing PPC to get that traffic? Did it cost you extra money?

It didnt cost me anything except Google now might be seeing my website dirty with Aff links (how to stop this? , i just now used phpadsnew and changed code to javascript..i guess it will do now)

The traffic is natural and now the Google adsense ads have replaced the Aff links on some sweet spots of website
