Hi,
May I ask a question regarding Affiliate marketing?

Q.
Are your earnings going down year after year or is the trend up and is proportional to the effort/content you put?

Reason I ask: I am using Adsense and the Epcm trend is downward for me year after year and is not proportional with efforts I put in.

AdSense and affiliate marketing are two different things altogether. It sounds like you want to know others experience with AdSense so you should read the AdSense forum. It all depends on what niche you are in. As soon as someone posts that their earnings are declining, someone else will post that their earnings have increased.

I think generally speaking, especially if you are well diversified both with niches and affiliate programs, your earnings will be more or less proportional to the effort you put in. So, usually more effort = more gain.

agree with dave...

if you spend about 3 months in one campaign.. naturally it should improve.... upto some point it will plateau...

then you work on your next project for another 3 months.. then it will plateau again.. while the first programm will slightly decrease...

then again...

after a while.. you'll have a set of diversified campaigns on your hands... maybe not all of them are performing well but you get a bunch of campaigns working for you at any given time... if one of them suddenly dies loss of merchant or whatever.. you'll still be ok... just don't wait until everything is dead before you act.. act while you got others still running... and paying your bills...

I find that my earnings are not increasing at the rate I would expect. With all the revshare, and the additional campaigns and projects I add, I am seeing growth, but not significantly up from a year ago.

I put this down to the increasing cost of advertising. If I wasn't working on adding new campaigns and developing new ideas, (ie. simply maintaining current projects), I think I would probably be seeing a decline.

I find that every year the number of my merchants in my extended niche increases, the amount of sales I make per month per merchant increases (on the whole) but over time the merchants are reducing their payouts.

The net effect of this is that my earnings trend is upwards but the ladder is being pulled up with the bottom rung further and further out of reach of people starting in that niche now.

That's not say there aren't other niches which are still perfectly accessible, but I wonder if people working in multiple sectors see a similar trend across different niches?
