Been approached by a company that has developed software that offers many benefits for our makreting efforts. They want a percentage of commissions of our generated sales. What percentage do you think is fair?

I would negotiate with them after using the software and seeing how much more money their software has made you. This would be a win win because if they saw you were making a lot, they'd want a nice percentage, but if this was extra cash for you without any extra effort, then you could afford to pay them a decent percentage.

If their software really doesn't make much for you, then I would pay a low percentage.

It does help.

They want 25%...which seems steep.

I myself am looking for datafeeds and a parser to enable automatic update of promotions into my website.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Please do not hijack my thread....

I am looking for input as to whether or not the 25% take is fair.

I apologize.

That was not my intention.

Will they let you follow eljefe's advice - have a trial period and see how much it helps you before deciding on a standing percentage? If yes, it could be worth a try. If not - don't they trust their product to deliver?

If your "It does help" means you have tried it, that should give you some information to go on (information that we don't have, so you're in a better position to judge than we are).
