What's easier to mantain? a site or a PPC campaign?

I have one PPC campaign that's netted me about $300(sales) with $90 of expenses (adwords).

I have one website that's netted me about the same in sales and adsense.

The PPC campaign I've set up - I just let it run, checking every week or so for the stats.

The website I set up, I'm just letting it run as well, although it could use some maintenance (updating aff.links, structure, etc).

On the surface, it would seem the website is harder to maintain, however, against PPC campaigns there's the fact that for each keyword/product you find that's profitable, there may be quite some research and failures in between.

What do folks here think?

he he. you can complicate your life further by having a PPC campaign that goes to a website ;)

Seriously, though, try to automate the PPC analysis, e.g. link those excel or csv from CJ and Adwords into MSAccess and compare keyword EPC to your bid and keyword status. Set limits and have it flag you.

All depends on the site.

Personally I find PPC much more of a hassle. Constantly reviewing my keyword matching options etc.

The websites I've been doing are "create and forget" type affairs...

I think it depends on the dollar amounts you are talking about. I think it is a lot more work to manage a 5 figure per month ppc campaign than it is a 5 figure per month website.

Procyon - how can you sustain a good SE position with a "create and forget" website? Surely you have to constantly develop your back links to stay near the top?

vegas: it's also a question how much you can scale a website / ppc campaign... most sites stop at "5 figures / month"... at least the ones I was/am working on, so I am starting to look into PPC in the hopes of breaking this barrier.
