for testing purposes I had it running today for like 5 minutes...their avg. cpc is about half of adsense... not as bad as I expected... and I love their interface

Yes, I like the AdSonar interface very much too.
AdSense could learn something from it.
As for PPC rates - I'm seeing almost as good results as AdSense now.

Got in after a long wait, too.

Seeing as the AdSense CPC has fallen through the roof on my site, I decided to give it a whirl.

The CTR is way lower using AdSonar (about 1/6th for me) but the CPC is way higher (about 7 times). So, it's just pushing ahead for me.

Might be worth sticking with. If/when they get a greater inventory of ads to bump up the CTR, it'll completely wipe the floor with AdSense. In my category (entertainment) at least.

Will adsonar be getting its own forum any time soon?

Its funny you asking that. I have had numerous posts and indeed threads deleted because I have made such a suggestion. In fact I was one of the earlier people to mention A*sonar (as we used to have to type it to get past the filter)and got a mail from the mods askign emnot to mention it.

Wonder if the "winds of change" are a blowing

The real issue I see with Adsonar at this point is their limited content categories. They are only accepting publishers in the following content categories: Sports, Health, Beauty & Fitness, Travel and Education. Hopefully that will expand.

For travel related sites adsonar income highly depends on the destination. For some destinations CPM from adsonar is about the same as CPM from adsense, but for most destinations adsonar pays 3-4 times less per 1000 imps than google.

I just don't get it. Why doesn't Adsonar do well. If they have X amount of inventory for such and such keyword, why don't they just go to the Adsense test page, look to see who the Adwords advertisers are for that keyword and just solicit the advertisers away by offering a cheaper rate than the current Adwords bids. (I'd gladly settle for 70 to 80% of my current Adsense income if it meant diversifying my income sources.)

I gave Adsonar tons of inventory some months ago on a health related site, pages that made money with Adsense. The single most prominent ad they showed on my site was for bottled water. The money generated was nearly zero. How insulting. A couple of times a year I get unsolicited inquires regarding advertising on my site, why can't Adsonar find these people?

They probably just can't deliver enough publisher impressions. I suspect that even Google has trouble serving enough ads to use up advertisers' budgets for many keywords and keyphrases.
