Has anybody done any scientific tests between blinking and non-blinking ads (text or image)?

I would like to know what the real story is on whether or not they increase clickthroughs, or instead alienate the site visitor.

Thanks.

Android:

I think they may increase clickthroughs in the short term, but I find them annoying and I think it decreases traffic in the long term.

IMHO it's a cheap tactic that should be avoided. It may get attention, but it definitely cheapens the experience.

I have no data to back this up, just an opinion.

It's not about blinking ads, but blinking text on it's own is annoying, it's one of those early 90's fads.
